Provocative speeches can’t be tolerated, says Shahbaz

LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that the project of Punjab Police Integrated Command, Control and Communication Center is of vital importance for controlling crime and the same will also be initiated in Rawalpindi, Multan, Gujranwala and Faisalabad under a phased programme.
The chief minister said this while presiding over a meeting which reviewed law and order situation in the province, project of setting up Punjab Police Integrated Command, Control and Communication Center and the measures adopted for elimination of terrorism under national action plan, on Monday.
“Provocative speeches cannot be tolerated and indiscriminate action should be taken under the law against the elements delivering such speeches as there is a need for promoting sentiments of brotherhood, peace and tolerance in the society,” the CM held.
The chief minister has issued instructions for further improving the security of mosques, imambarghas and worship places in the province and said that not only additional force be deputed at sensitive places but special attention should also be paid in this regard.
He said that indiscriminate action against publication and distribution of literature creating hatred should be continued and the law regarding ban on loudspeaker and wall-chalking should be strictly implemented. He said that search operations should be accelerated in an effective manner in Lahore as well as other areas of the province with help of modern technology.
Shahbaz Sharif said that the Punjab government was taking all out steps for the protection of life and property of citizens. He said that timely and effective measures had been adopted under the NAP against terrorism and extremism, and encouraging results were being witnessed.
Shahbaz Sharif said that under the project of setting up Punjab Police Integrated Command, Control and Communication Center, all police stations of Lahore would be integrated with the center and the modern command and control center would help in keeping a watchful eye on criminal elements and miscreants through digital monitoring of the city.
He said that protection of life and property of citizens is the responsibility of police and it will have to perform its duties with efficiency and commitment.
