LAHORE - A youth sneaked into the parking lot of the Sessions court on Saturday and pumped six bullets into the body of his sister over for contracting love marriage, police said. The killer managed to flee without facing any resistance.
Investigators say the woman, identified as Humaira Bibi, married her brother-in-law after he had divorced her elder sister to tie his knot with the younger.
Resident of Sanda, Humaira, was rushed to the Mayo Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
The police have registered a murder case against the killer and are investigating with no arrest.
Police said that the gunman, Akhtar, opened fire at his sister at the parking lot of the sessions courts as she arrived there along with her lawyer to get their wedding registered.
Killings on the court premises over old enmity or family disputes are common in this society where the police are unable to ensure foolproof security for the judges, lawyers, victims, and the witnesses in the criminal cases. Last year, two accused in a murder case were shot dead on the Sessions court premises while another two wounded seriously when their opponent opened fire at them in Lahore.
