9,857 challaned over careless driving

LAHORE - As many as 20,289 road safety briefing and education imparted to road users while fine imposed on 9,857 commuters over careless driving on national highways by Motorway Police, Central Zone in current year.

A total six accidents reported during the first four months of the current year. The NH&MP imposed fines on 2281 trucks, 1713 trailers, 588 oil tankers, 1612 cars and 1500 other vehicles over rash driving. 

Similarly in the Okara Sector 10889, Multan Sector, 5620 and Rahim Yar Khan Sector 3780 road safety briefing education were being imparted to road users in zone.

This is said by DIG Mirza Faran Baig while observing special enforcement campaign about careless and reckless driving. SSP Masroor Alam Kolachi was also present on this occasion.

DIG Mirza Faran Baig said the consequences of an accident caused reckless and careless driving  are often fatal  During the campaign , vehicles were challaned and drivers were briefed about the hazards of careless driving .  Special emphasis was given to effective briefing about the right of way of small vehicles including cyclists, motorcyclist and pedestrians. Briefing sessions were also arranged at trucks, trailers stands and bus station, he added.

The comparison of year 2014, 2015 and 2016 (period 1st to 25th) shows that no accident due to careless driving took place because of effective briefing and enforcement campaign in the current year.

He lauded the performance of N-5 Central officers and further advised them to put every effort to meet the high standards of professionalism to brighten the name of the department.
