BAHAWALPUR - The activists of All Pakistan Clerk Association (Apca) set up a protest camp here at Fareed Gate to protest against what "they called" apathy of the government to accept their demands.
On the occasion, they warned that if their legitimate demands were not fulfilled then the families of 1 million clerks would boycott the upcoming general elections.
According to details, more than one million government servants are protesting against the Punjab government for not issuing a notification regarding their demands approved the by federal government.
Scores of government servants protested at Fareed Gate here in the city for TA/DA, conveyance allowance and scale up-gradation.
They appealed to the Punjab chief to order issuance of notification regarding the approved allowances.
Addressing the participants, Apca Punjab Secretary General Fakhurur Rehman Azhar and Bahawalpur Division Chairman Malik Muhammad Khalid pointed that government officials throughout the country were entitled to allowances like TA/DA, conveyance allowance whereas thousands of Punjab servants were deprived of these allowances.
They emphasised that the government in last days should devise some policies to provide relief to the people.
DEAD BODY FOUND: A farmer's body was recovered from a canal near Chak 469/JB who was missing for the last one week. Deceased identified as Wahid of chak 378/JB was shot dead and his body was thrown into the canal by unidentified persons. The Saddr Police registered a case.
