LAHORE - The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has launched a survey in all towns across Punjab to collect data of the dangerous and dilipidated buildings. Director PDMA Ali Affan Qamar told the Buildings Control Meeting here on Sunday that the survey is being undertaken to identify dangerous buildings across the province which would save precious human life. He said it had also been decided that no new construction of basement in the already contructed old building will be allowed as the illegal act of digging weakens the foundations of the building and puts human life in danger.
He said committees are being constituted at the commissioner level for data-collection about such buildings, adding that strict action will be taken against the violaters.
Director said a survey is also being conducted on the old buildings in the walled city so that information could be evaluated.
