LAHORE Chief Executive Cannon Generation Limited, Faheem Haider and Director Azeem Haider met Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif here on Friday, and discussed the project of setting up a 135-megawatt coal fired power plant in the province. Chairman Planning and Development, Secretaries Minerals and Irrigation and Vice Chairman Punjab Investment Board were also present on the occasion. The CM said power shortage was seriously affecting industrial sector which was also leaving a negative impact on national economy. He said the Punjab government was working on various projects of generation of energy from alternative sources including coal, and would extend all out cooperation to Cannon Generation Limited in setting up the plant of generation of energy from coal and an agreement would soon be reached in this regard. Faheem Haider said his company wanted to take part in the efforts being made by the CM for overcoming energy crisis, and intended to set up a 135-megawatt plant with the collaboration of provincial government.
