LAHORE – Like the previous years, consultants and senior doctors stayed away from Emergencies and Indoors of public sector hospitals across the province, including the City, during Eid days, leaving patients at the mercy of medical officers and those doing house job.
Besides causing huge inconvenience to those visiting emergencies, lack of implementation on duty roster added to the woes of indoor patients. The majority of patients went to their houses to celebrate Eid and only serious patients and their families were at the hospital wards.
Attendants of indoor patients complained about the absence of senior doctors, saying medical officers and nursing staff were only providing lip service and asking them to wait for consultants after the end of Eid holidays.
