A local court on Saturday accepted bail of former member of National Assembly Liaquat Abbas Bhatti. He is facing charges of torturing and imprisoning his housemaid.
The accused ex-MNA was produced before Judicial Magistrate who accepted his bail application for two surety bonds of Rs. 50,000 each, and ordered his release.
On Friday, police raided the residence of the former MNA Liaquat Abbas Bhatti in Johar Town and recovered a 14-year old housemaid.
According to police, the action was taken on a complaint filed by relatives of 14-year-old Shahida.
Shahida belongs to village Bhallay near Ferozpur Inter Change Sheikhupura.
She alleged that her father had taken Rs 400,000 as loan from the former MNA which he could not return. To which, the family of Liaquat Abbas tortured her and tied her hands and feet with chain.
