LAHORE - Regional Safe Blood Transfusion Centres will be established in Punjab with the assistance of German Government. In the first phase, buildings of Regional Blood Centers have been constructed in Bahawalpur and Multan. German Government is providing 2.314 Euro through its executing agency KFW.
This was informed at a meeting held in connection with the Safe Blood Transfusion Service Project phase II at Civil Secretariat on Tuesday. Secretary Health Punjab Jawad Rafiq Malik chaired the meeting also attended by Chief Planning Officer Health Department Abdul Haq Bhatti, German Consultant KFW Dr Raza, Director Safe Blood Transfusion Project Islamabad Dr Amir Maqbool and other officers.
It was informed that KFW would also provide medical equipment for centers in Bahawalpur and Multan. In the second phase, two more Regional Safe Blood Centers will be established in Faisalabad and Rawalpindi. Government has already allocated a piece of land of six kanal in Faisalabad for this purpose.
The health secretary said that all modern blood screening and transfusion facilities would be provided in these centers. He said that Hospital Based Blood Banks would be linked with these centers.
