34 wheelies booked



LAHORE: Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Tayyab Hafeez Cheema has said that at least 34 cases have been registered against one-wheelers during the weekend, as the police have stepped crackdown to stop the deadly sport in Lahore.
The officer also said that the traffic wardens are strictly ordered to take immediate action against the motorcyclists for performing stunts of the back-wheel of their two-wheelers. The traffic police got registered cases against 34 one-wheelers. The cases have been registered with Gulberg, Shadman, Ichhra, and Defense police stations. A traffic police spokesperson said that the traffic wardens are also directed to step up patrolling on the Main Boulevard Gulberg, Jail and Defense Road to stop one-wheeling.
Every year in Lahore, a number of youngsters die in road mishaps while performing stunts on motorcycles. The CTO has also appealed to the parents to educate their children about the deadly sport so that they would not put their lives at risk by performing one-wheeling just for fun.–Staff Reporter
