LAHORE - Parts of the country including Lahore received rainfall of varying intensities on Monday, disturbing routine life by causing urban flooding, traffic jams and power shutdowns.
Overcast conditions, showers and strong winds caused considerable decrease in the mercury level, making weather pleasant during the day and at nighttime.
Scattered rain-thunderstorm associated with gusty winds occurred in Upper Punjab, Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhawa, Kashmir and Gilgit- Baltistan.
In Lahore, thick clouds covered the sky last night that followed by strong winds and rains in the morning. Short bursts of heavy rains submerged roads and streets in parts of Lahore in knee deep water. The rains added to the woes and miseries of motorists and pedestrians as rainwater inundated on portions of roads and roadsides. Massive traffic jams were witnessed on major City roads.
On Monday, maximum and minimum temperature in the City was recorded 25 degree Celsius and 15 C respectively. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded 64 percent.
According to the experts, shallow westerly wave is affecting upper parts of the country. Local meteorological department has forecast partly cloudy weather with chances of rains for Lahore during the next couple of days. Rain thundershower is expected at scattered places of Islamabad, Upper Punjab (Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sargodha divisions), Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhawa (Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar, Mardan, Kohat divisions), FATA, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.
On Monday, Sialkot received 89 mm rain, Lahore 47 mm, Gujranwala 21 mm, Parachinar 06 mm, Gujrat and Bunji 03 mm each, Garhi Dupatta, Noorpur Thal, Mandi Bahauddin, Kakul, Malam Jabba and Drosh 02 mm each, Murree, Joharabad, Astore and Mirkhani 01 mm each.
