A win-win deal!

Iran nuclear deal is a historic phase in the Tehran’s Nuclear Program. The diplomatic deal encompasses relaxation of some sanctions in exchange of suspension of Uranium enrichment.
After the elections of 2008, Obama Administration sought to improve ties with Iran. It has been a first and also significant attempt towards friendship between Iran and US after the diplomatic termination in 1979 and coming just months after the appointment of moderate Hassan Rouhani as President in the recent Iranian elections. Moreover, the president has been backed up by the supreme leader who supports these negotiations.
The efforts of the diplomats to conclude a pragmatic agreement is commendable. This decisive victory leads to regional stability in the Middle East as well as a shift from the policy of staying away. The deal also shows a practical repercussion of the tilt in US grand strategy towards Asia especially the Middle East. It may be to contain some other potential foe though.
Iran on the other hand has come out as a victor as it clearly stood by its national interests showing strategic autonomy and strong diplomatic stance. A country named “Rouge regime” and “Axis of Evil” for the first time got accepted by the major world powers. The deal did not affect Tehran’s vital interests of uranium enrichment for civilian purposes. Moreover, it also got relaxation over some sanctions that would boost up its declining economy. It has also proved that it is a state that does not come under the influence of any foreign power.
The world would also benefit from the normalization of US-Iran relations because it would open new economic and trade means, access to central Asian resources, fill the loopholes in the Nonproliferation Treaty (NPT) and lead to respect of human rights. Stability in Middle East through resolution of the vast sectarian conflict, Arab Israel conflict, and Radical militancy can be countered with the help of Iran.
The Iran nuclear deal is a “win-win situation”. The success of this deal depends upon the performance of Iran and the international community. If Iran agrees to the points in the pact it would lead to sanctions’ relief and end the tension. If Iran causes problems it would lead to more sanctions. On the other hand if the International community violates its promise, Iran would continue with uranium enrichment. The lack of goodwill between the US and Iran can be transformed and bridged through greater engagement and interaction.
