Returning plundered wealth

It is reported that the National Accountability Bureau, in its investigation of Rupees 3.6 billion corruption in ‘Tawana Pakistan’ scandal, has decided to investigate former federal minister Zubaida Jalal and to arrest former chief secretary Baluchistan and others involved. It is heartening to read of such accountability being practiced in our country. This can be appreciated, however NAB should be further empowered and given freedom, improved and it should focus on catching more prominent corrupt elements of our society without any fear or pressure. It should also ensure that the trials are conducted in a fair manner by following the due process and the culprits meet their just reward. Also, what they have plundered is given back to the government exchequer. However, the last few cases involving billions have never seen the light of day, nor has the money been recovered.
