Commitment

Fakir S. Ayazuddin in his column captioned 'commitment' (The Nation June 21) has been very critical of the 'no dharna' decision. Does he really think a 'peaceful' dharna, no matter how long or how well attended, would have budged the government, which remains unmoved by the mother of all long marches. On the other hand a long dharna without an outcome would have been an even bigger let down. Of course, there always was the danger of a long dharna being exploited by elements inside or outside to create a law and order situation. -KHURSHID ANWER, Lahore Cantt., via e-mail, June 21.
