Ghotki is known as the second richest district of Sindh. The city is known for its major industries like Engro Fertilizers, OGDCL, and Fauji Fertilizers etc. It also has three gas fields: Mari Gas Field, Qadirpur Gas Field, Rehmat Gas Field. The city has 1.5 million population, but if we look at the educational opportunities for the residents we would be surprised. The second richest district of Sindh has no university!
Every year thousands of students pass their intermediate exams but due to quota system in different government universities Ghotki has few seats. When the students (belonging to middle and lower class) apply in these universities, most of them cannot get admission. Though there are already many universities in Karachi and Hyderabad, but they are unaffordable for these students.
As our youth is our biggest asset and we should invest in their tomorrow, I would like to request the authorities concerned and government of Sindh to take immediate steps to save the future of the youth of Ghotki. Asking for a university for needy students isn’t too much.
