I was stunned to read a news item regarding "one anthem for Pakistan and India" that was published in a section of the press recently. According to this, there is going to be a new anthem for India and Pakistan that would be written by Gulzar and sung by Shankar Madhvan and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan as part of the Aman ki Asha people-to-people peace initiative by the media of two countries. There is no harm in Aman ki Asha getting into the two leading media groups of Pakistan and India but we have to be aware of our ideology too and care some bit about our integrity too. How can someone change the existing national anthem of Pakistan? If Indians think they can use a media group to deceive the whole nation and overcome our values, traditions and heritage to change our national anthem, they are living in fools' paradise. Till such time that India solves the Kashmir issue according to will of the Muslim population of the Indian-held Kashmir, and doesn't stop the subversive terrorist activities in Balochistan and other parts of Pakistan, this nation is not going to be trapped in the Indian Aman ki Asha trick. -SHAHBAZ KHAN, Peshawar, January 7.
