November 9 was celebrated as Iqbal Day with traditional fervor and zeal. Special programmes relating to the national poets life were broadcasted. More importantly, when we celebrate this day we should make a pledge that the message Iqbal conveyed to us should be understood and followed by us. Iqbals universal message of peace, love and harmony must be translated into reality so that our country can get rid of hatred and violence. There is no doubt that he was in the forefront of the Pakistan movement. The Allahabad address in which he gave the idea of a separate homeland for Muslims bears testimony to the strong role he had played in the independence movement. A true celebration of Iqbal day will be the promotion of his views. AMNA ZAMAN, Lahore, November 9.
