I still feel ashamed after the passage of many years when I along with my friend arrived from Karachi to Ninoy Aquino Airport, Manila. After immigration procedure at Ninoy Airport, we finally passed through custom counter. The two female custom officers on duty asked all the passengers by showing passports in their hands, that they should leave the counter one by one. Like other passengers, they did not check our passports or hand carry luggage but one lady officer while seeing our green colour Pakistani passports, remarked: Sir...No drugs. We both felt highly ashamed because the rest of the passengers were not asked this embarrassing question. Obviously, Afghan refugees (also their patron ex-army dictator General Ziaul Haq) were mainly responsible for our tarnished image abroad. After getting Pakistani passports illegally, they used to take drugs with them and defamed the name of Pakistan world over. MOHAMMAD KHAN SIAL, Karachi, November 10.
