Dawood Shakil, in his letter "A reality check" (The Nation June 30) says the judges should be restored through a constitutional amendment. But a constitutional amendment would indemnify Musharraf's actions of Nov 03, which he has himself admitted to be unconstitutional. An army chief cannot dismiss judges, under any constitution in the whole wide world. However, retaining of the PCO judges requires a constitutional amendment. Hence the package.
