AWT saving schemes

Army Welfare Trust - essentially a trust for the welfare of the veterans, the armed forces pensioners, widows and their dependents - was paying reasonable dividends to the depositors on their savings deposited with it. The government has announced a substantial increase in dividends of its National Savings Schemes effective June 24, 2008, raising the profit rate to as high as 13.56% per annum for their Pensioners' Scheme and Behbood Fund. It is earnestly hoped that in these days of high inflation the concerned authorities of AWT will also come to the rescue of the old soldiers and increase profit rates of their schemes if not more than the NSC schemes, then at least to match them.
