Three failures & counting

The Punjab governor wants to make Punjab the stronghold of PPP, by giving non-existing jobs to Jiayalas, thereby crippling industrial units and public sector organizations, as was earlier done by Bhutto and by Benazir Bhutto. The percentage of people under the poverty line has increased in all their three previous tenures of PPP, as it will now. All this without any effort to make industry and agriculture the backbone of Pakistan, by providing power and water from dams whose construction can start tomorrow. Bhasha is a pipe dream with many hiccups and inherent delays, not to mention its built-in hazards. -KHURSHID ANWER, Lahore, via e-mail, December 7.
