Pensioners’ woes

The National Bank of Pakistan (NBP), main branch, and Rawalpindi Cantonment branch has contrived an ingenious method of humiliating pensioners. They have removed the counter-coupon-issuing machine. Now, the pensioners, mostly old men and women in frail health, have to queue up for long hours waiting for their turn. Influential pensioners having a way with the banking staff and are seen handing their pension books to assistants under the table for quick transaction. The existing seating capacity in the NBP is inadequate to accommodate pensioners. State Bank should inspect the state of affairs at the NBP. Coupon issuing machine should be placed back.
