The dreaded gangs of Lyari, which specialize in extortion, street crime, gun-running and operating narcotic and gambling dens, are not just making lives of Lyariites miserable, but also fanning out to other neighborhoods of the city to carry out their activities. Police so far has completely failed to stop all these criminal activities. Just yesterday, the Police made an interesting demand to government to give them the free hand to bring peace in the volatile neighborhood of Lyari where politically-connected armed bands of criminals have been holding sway for the last few years. Let’s hope their wish is fulfilled.
