Future planning is an integral part of every Government and business. The US and EU countries and major companies have achieved so much because they planned for the next 50 years in advance. Pakistan, on the other hand, has no advance planning and even after more than 50 years, the leaders of our country have failed to think ahead. Let’s just take Ramadan, it comes every year, and every year we see shortage of one commodity or another. Prices go up and supply goes down, this is one month when instead of there being plenty we see hording and mismanagement.
If it is true that more is consumed during this month then the Government should start stocking food items across the country which would cater to the high demand in Ramadan but alas every year our Government, instead spends billions of rupees in purchasing limited food items, mostly purchased from sectors that have a monopoly, like sugar industry. While the rest of Pakistani still faces high food prices during Ramadan. Don’t we have any sensible people among the ruling elite, or even good businessmen, or any Muslims?
