A lethal weapon against feudalism

MQM has once again panicked the countrys most influential elite of agricultural land owners by tabling the Land Reforms Bill 2010. The Bill is a lethal weapon against the feudal lords who have governed the fate of the poor masses for the last six decades in our country. If passed, this bill will lead to a major improvement in the agricultural sector as the defunct land will then be used with the personal consent of the farmers - who once used to be part of the forced labour on the same piece of land. However, since most of the parliamentarians are feudal lords themselves, it is difficult to get this bill passed. Interestingly, as a consequence of this move by the MQM, we may see stereotypical politicians lining up against MQM. M. ZEESHAN MUSTAFA, Karachi, October 14.
