A victorious PTI

Perhaps not as new for the rest of the world, but the year 2013 brought a new ideology for the people of Pakistan; the notion that the people of a country are in fact the real wealth of that country, and that this element of significance granted to a population is the strongest catalyst of change and development. Starting from last year, Pakistan Tehrik-e- Insaf has been able to launch several successful campaigns across the country. Imran Khan has been able to stir excitement among the masses; almost every person who called themselves Pakistani was anticipating the elections.
Eventually, the day arrived and people thronged the voting centers, women, children, old people and the youth. Our country has seen a handful of elections in its 66 year history but the May 11, 2013 elections were historic in their essence and belief. Though there were severe security threats no one stayed back, they all braved the odds to go and cast their vote.
Though the anti-election factors were present to hinder the voters, surely from political parties who knew their time was up, it seemed nothing would break these people’s will; people stood in long lines from morning till night, just to cast their votes, they fought the anti-election elements and would not leave. Our women, who were denied voting rights in some areas of the country, showed utmost determination as well. Nobody left their polling stations without having cast their vote.
Imran Khan may not have won the elections, as he and his supporters had hoped, but the man has succeeded in bringing about a revolution among the people of our country. Even after the elections, we have witnessed several follow up protests against the rigging and corruption in the election processes; evidence that the people of Pakistan are rising up against tyranny is the best victory for PTI and Imran Khan. This is a revolution that has rightfully empowered the people to unite as one body and enforce change.
