New set of rules have been announced for the Upper House of the Parliament which gives the Senate the authority to summon anyone before it and ask any organization or department for their data. Empowering democratic institutions definitely augurs well for the efficiency of the political system. In Pakistan democracy, with all its sweet sounding norms and notions, is taking root at a rather quick pace. It is heartening that Government and its machinery is working sincerely to make democracy the most productive, reliable and efficient political system. It is hoped that empowering the Senate will enhance capability of the parliament to address and resolve the problems confronting the citizens.
