Shah after Shah

Syed Qaim Ali Shah first time, on December 2, 1988, was declared Chief Minister of Sindh and after one year and a few months on February 25, 1990, he had left his chair. Second time, on April 6, 2008, he again took the post. The third and last time, he was appointed on May 30, 2013 and finally on July 25, 2016 he said Allah Hafiz to his post.

Recently on July 27, 2016, after the resignation of Syed Qaim Ali Shah, another Shah, namely Syed Murad Ali Shah, became new Chief Minister.

A Chief Minister has many roles to play for the nation. Among many of the responsibilities, education, is a priority. In the last term of former CM Syed Qaim Ali Shah, the state of education in District Dadu was reported by a local newspaper. The report mentioned that 500 out of 1,888 schools for boys and girls schools remain closed. In Dadu, 140 out of 566, in Johi, 150 out of 476, in Mehar, 85 out of 430 and in Khairpur Nathan Shah, the number of closed schools was 100 out of 416. The Education Minister Sindh Pir Mazharul Haq was under the rule of CM Syed Qaem Ali Shah. What did he do about the education?

In the current year, PPP had driven a campaign to distribute the books free of cost among the children of Sindh. It was also during the term of Qaim Ali Shah. These books were being distributed in the schools where the children are already had books and to those students who are already enrolled in the schools. It can be hoped that the new Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah will tackle and diminish the problems of Sindh. He will have to put education first. He should pay more attention to the progress of education. He should drive a campaign to force the people to admit their children in schools but admission should also be free of cost.

When these steps are taken the new Chief Minister of Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah will be admired on his herculean efforts. We hope that Syed Murad Ali Shah will prove himself a righteous Chief Minister of Sindh.

RAMEEZ ALI MAHESAR,

Jamshoro, August 5.
