The collection of sacrificial hides has been a lucrative business on Eid-ul-Adha as religious, political and welfare outfits spring into action to generate funds for their vested interests in the name of charity. On the pretext of charity, these outfits collect sacrificial animals' hides but do not fulfill their commitments and use them for their own purposes.
The government issues directive to control such activities every year and bans organizations indulging in hides’ collection business but fails to implement it in letter and in spirit because of certain reasons. According to some critics, big cities are the hub of this lucrative business where political parties and religious organizations compel people to donate hides. If this revenue generated to uplift the poor was really done there would be no poverty in Pakistan or any Muslim country.
