Cut here if you cut

According to the latest reports, the World Bank has forced the government of NWFP to minimize its social sector expenditure, especially in the sectors of education, health and judiciary. The World Bank has also dictated that the services of employees in the social sector should not be regularized. If the World Bank wants to minimize government expenses through its dictation, it should direct the government to impose cut on expenses of the cabinet, discretionary funds of VIPs expenses, luxury cars, luxury houses, foreign tours and funds allocated for members of the assemblies. These are unnecessary expenses which have no social bearing or value. -BASHIR HUSSAIN AZAD, Chitral, via e-mail, August 16.
