On lowest ebb

People generally pump in more money into advertisements when their product is not doing well. A similar effort is being done by the PPP government after completion of its first year in office. Had their performance been satisfactory, it would have been visible without any need for feigned glory. On a historical note, PPP has always done best when in opposition. Z.A. Bhutto lost all his charisma after only a year into his rule and people started demanding change. The same thing happened to Benazir Bhutto when she got two chances to run the government. History seems to be repeating itself as far as disillusionment of the masses with the present ruling lot of the PPP is concerned. Apart from financial woes of people and resurfacing of corruption scandals, credibility of the government has also been effected due to a repeated shift in stances and statements. The recent denial of the statement by the President pertaining to deal with the foreign powers reminds one of the statements of General Zia-Ul Haq who used to openly say, "Cancel my last announcement". Here is a word of advice for the Presidential spokesperson Mr. Farhatullah Babar; Please try to give a truthful picture instead of defending the indefensible, thus, resulting in loss of whatever credibility you are left with. -DR.
