The profession of journalism has always been full of danger for those who are a part of it. There is no doubt that journalists by and large are sitting ducks not only for miscreants but also intelligence agencies. The pity is even the families of the journalists are now being harassed. Last Friday, Umar Cheema along with his family, was once again followed by a suspicious vehicle for as long as nine kilometers, panicking the family members. It was also on Friday when Cheema was picked up while driving on the motorway. The journalists are only doing their job. They must not be pressurized to give up investigative reporting exposing the deeds of corrupt people. It is vital to let the media act freely so it could help democracy and rule of law.
