Now that the historic verdict of the Supreme Court has come, the PPP stalwarts are complaining about those who are asking for reopening of the Swiss cases against Mr Asif Ali Zardari. They argue that cases against him cannot be discussed in the court as he being the President of Pakistan, is protected under Article 248. Don't they realise that the case was discussed at some length already during the SC proceedings. The CJ had even asked NAB to provide its details and a lot of questions were also asked about it. As a result, the Short Order expressly asked the government to reopen the cases in Swiss courts. Why the didn't the council for the government, Kamal Azfar, or the Additional Attorney General raise any objection and sought clarity of the court regarding this 'violation' of the Article the PPP is quoting now? If the legal minds of PPP thought the particular Article was not violated in the judgement, how can the rest of the party leaders think otherwise now? -DR. GHAYUR AYUB, London, December 23.
