The government has taken a great initiative by giving public holidays on the annual festivals of minority communities. This cause will be able to establish peace and harmony in the country where as it gives a message that Pakistan is a country where minorities are given equal opportunities in nation building with attention and respect. It promotes pluralism. It is a small step in the right direction so that now other non-Muslim countries will respect Muslim’s festivals in their country just like this year United States of America is deciding to declare an Eid holiday for Muslims minorities. If we expect respect from other nations of the world then it is the only proper way to respect their culture, traditions and observances. And this is what our founder has said after the partition that “You may belong to any religion or cast or creed — that has nothing to do with the business of the State”
