Eroding educational system

It is pathetic to note that the peaceful environment of meritorious students of Sir Syed University, Karachi, has been categorically sabotaged by some disturbing elements of MQM for many years. The political interference in the educational sector depicts a bleak picture. The dedicated students are facing a number of hurdles in their way of peaceful study. The activists of the party have opened numerous sectors through which they have dominated the whole university.

It has become the order of the day that these disturbing elements collect extortion money from the students in the name of Altaf Bhai for arranging Quran Khawani, harass them regularly and create quite a stir during class hours. If any student offers resistance, he would be severely beaten in front of all students in order to fray nerves throughout the university. The university authorities seem reluctant to curb this crucial situation and are unable to rid the university of these criminals. On one hand, with the special assistance of law-enforcement agencies, rangers and police personnel, the peaceful study atmosphere in almost all the educational sectors has been reinstated and made free from political influence across Sindh, but on the other, why this university is being brushed aside? I urge COAS General Raheel Sharif, DG Rangers Major General Bilal Akbar and Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah to take stern initiatives to deploy Rangers troops permanently in order to wipe out MQM hegemony from the university premises, ameliorate the critical situation and pave the way to ensure education free from political meddling.
