ISLAMABAD - Reiterating his resolve to eradicate terrorism from the society, Army Chief Gen Raheel Sharif has said that they would never allow terrorists to return back.
He said this while addressing the troops on the front lines, busy in operation Zarb-i-Azb, on Eid day and stayed overnight at Miranshah Camp.
According to the statement released by Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), Gen Sharif said, "Now that their command and communication infrastructure has been disrupted, we will never allow them to return".
He expressed satisfaction over the progress in the ongoing military operation in North Wazirstan and said that the terrorists will never be allowed to return.
The Army Chief also offered Eid prayers in Miramshah, the capital of North Waziristan. On arrival, Operation Commander briefed the COAS on the operation progress.
Gen Raheel expressed his complete satisfaction over the achievements and progress of the operation.
Gen Sharif addressed the troops engaged in the military operation and advised them to stay focused on speedy and skillful conduct of operation against terrorists.
"We will not step back from eradicating the menace of terrorism from the country", Gen Sharif said.
He also paid rich tribute to the martyrs and the wounded while fighting for the defence of the country.
The COAS appreciated the high state of morale, courage and determination of the armed forces in execution of the operation.
He vowed that they would not stop short of eradicating this menace of terrorism from across the country. He also emphasized that only with sustained focus of the entire nation, they could jointly accomplish the objective of a terror-free Pakistan.
Gen Sharif also visited the IDPs camps to spend some time with the IDPs.
While addressing on the occasion, the COAS assured them of the wholehearted support of the Army and the nation in providing them not only relief but in executing an ultimate resettlement plan for them.
Acknowledging the cooperation and sacrifices rendered by the brave tribal brethren in fight against terrorists, the COAS reiterated, "Together we will bring peace, development and prosperity to this region."
He also appreciated the troops and all other agencies involved in the IDP affairs for their hard work. He hoped that with an improved coordination between all stakeholders involved at various levels, relief work would further improve better resource mobilization and distribution mechanism.
