Islamabad: Foreign Office Spokesperson Qazi Khalilullah today said that Pakistani High Commissioner Abdul Basit is in constant touch with Indian Ministry of External Affairs, on the issue of Chanda Bibi’s detention.
It may be noted that Chanda Bibi was caught in Jalandhar by Indian Railway Police, for allegedly travelling on Samjhauta Express without ticket and passport.
The FO spokesperson further stated that the Indian authorities have yet to provide details regarding her detention. Situation will become clear, once all information on the incident is provided from the other side.
Fauzia alias Chanda Khan, who claimed to be 27, had boarded Samjhauta Express from Wagah station in Pakistan, reached Attari and then again boarded the train to Delhi. She was de-boarded at Jalandhar station, around 10:00pm on Thursday when she could not produce a ticket and other relevant documents.
She claimed that she was in to visit dargahs and meet actors Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan. She was produced in an Amritsar court that remanded her in two-day police custody.
