Organic foods help fight diseases

MULTAN-Experts underlined the importance of organic vegetables as consuming these vegetables prevents the people from the diseases caused by the chemical intake.
Addressing a seminar on “Consultation on Punjab Organic Farming Act 2016”, they added, “We need to adopt organic foods to lead a healthy life.” They pointed out that the demand for the organic foods increased incredibly across the world.
On the occasion, Muhammad Nawaz Sharif University of Agriculture (MNSUA) Vice Chancellor Dr Asif Ali said that the consultation with all the stakeholders would help the government promulgate a comprehensive law on organic farming.
Dr Sagheer Ahmad, Dr. Hameed Ullah, Ch Naseer Ahmad, Naveed Ismat, Jam Huzoor Bukhsh, Fayyaz ul Hassan Bhutta, Dr Shahid Zia and others said that keeping in view the growing demand for organic food, the Punjab government wanted to promote organic farming in the province.
They added that the Organic Act was also being introduced to promote organic farming which would not only build the capacity of small farmers but also facilitate them to get maximum price of their produce. They said that the organic farming would also help improve environmental conditions and the health of the soil.
