KASUR
People and paramedical staff are up against ‘the mafia’ in District Headquarters Hospital and have announced a strong protest against the Kasur DHQ Hospital management and ‘corrupt’ MS on the upcoming visit of Prime Minister to Kasur.
They said that the hospital has failed to provide healthcare to people while the private hospitals and clinic have been cashing in on the situation due to its administration’s connivance with pharmaceutical companies and private hospitals.
Lawyers, traders, civil society activists and common public of Kasur protested against the administration of DHQ Hospital. They said that it is the biggest hospital in the district but due to negligence of acting MD Dr Muzaffar Iqbal, patients and their attendance are faced with lots of difficulties.
They alleged that a grade-6 pharmacist is promoted as MBBS and a notorious clerk Ashraf Chitta is posted as storekeeper in the hospital. They alleged that no medical service is provided without “greasing the palm” of the staffers. Even CM Punjab’s recent visit to Kasur made no visible difference in “routine corrupt practices” prevailed at DHQ Hospital, they added.
They alleged that acting MD Dr Muzaffar Iqbal is openly flouting code of ethics and rules and regulations of his professional service, which has caused loss of many precious lives including a staff nurse of the hospital.
“All the facilities at dental department, surgical department, operations theater, radiology department and laboratory have been withdrawn and patients are being heavily charged for their medical tests,” they alleged.
Many prominent citizens like District Bar Association member Ch Mohsin Gujjar, former UC Vice-Chairman Haji Akhtar Ali Ansari and Kasur TMA staffer Muhammad Ajmal etc. lost their lives due to absence of timely medical aid.
“Fake medico legal are issued against huge bribes and the MD gets the lion’s share,” they added.
On one hand social, political and religious circles have announced to inform the Prime Minister about the whole mess on his upcoming visit to Kot Radha Kishan whereas on the other hand, Acting MS Dr Muhammad Muzaffar Iqbal is confident that “no one can dare to lay hand on him.”
He further boasted that EDO Health is junior to him and Punjab CM rings me him on daily basis. “No one including the Kasur DCO or Health Secretary could transfer me and the whole secretariat was in my grip. All the postings and transfers in DHQ Hospital require my nod and I have banned media’s entry in the hospital,” he said.
Recently when DCO Kasur Muhammad Shahid visited the hospital, he had to face a host of reports of corruption against the corrupt hospital mafia and he promised that he would look into the matter and provide every possible facilities to the patients and the corrupt would be dealt with iron hands.
