LAHORE- The president PPP Punjab Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo has berated the statement of former DG (ISPR) as inappropriate, unwise and ill-timed without going into the veracity of the contents.
Manzoor Wattoo referred to former DG (ISPR) Gen (Retd) Athar Abbas newspaper statement , reportedly stating that the former Army Chief Pervez Ashfaq Kayani was indecisive in launching the military operation against terrorists in FATA due to fear of backlash by terrorists.
Wattoo said that Ather Abbas should not have given such statement about the former army chief who was his (Ather’s) boss, besides “this statement had neither boosted the morale of the people of the country nor helped the ongoing military operation in any way against terrorists who had challenged the writ of the state” he regretted.
Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo also recalled that PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto in his Larkana speech had raised his powerful voice against terrorists whence he had termed terrorists as neither Muslim, nor followers of Islam or faithful to Pakistani because they did not recognize the writ of the state, the constitution and National way of life
He further said that currently government, civil society and the political leadership were supporting the military operation which indeed was the vindication of the Chairman’s position taken in this regard right from the beginning.
Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo said that according to the instructions of Chairman Bilawal Bhutto to help the IDPs, Punjab PPP had set up district level committees to collect donations, while divisional coordinators had been assigned the task of supervising the collection of donations in respective five Divisions of Lahore Rural Division, Lahore City Division, Faisalabad Division, Gujranwala Division and Sahiwal Division.
He expressed the confidence that the IDPs from FATA would be looked after well because the whole nation was totally committed and supporting them with moral and material support.
