Female worker dies due to heat stroke, many faint

RAWALPINDI - An intense heat wave sweeping across the city has killed a female worker while many workers fell unconscious in Kohinoor Mills located on Peshawar Road, reliable sources disclosed to The Nation on Friday.

However, the factory management did not disclose the death of female worker from the police and buried her secretly in a graveyard located inside residential colony of the factory, sources said.

The name of the female worker who told to be a young girl could not be known.

According to sources, the heat wave that has been going in since June 30 has caused havoc in the factory and caused death of a girl employee. They added that many other female workers also fainted because of instance heat wave and were shifted to a hospital located inside the factory for medical treatment. Sources claimed that the factory management has hushed up the issue of death and of the females fainting due to heat to avoid any legal action by police or district government.

The name of the deceased girl could not be known till the filing of this report.

Meanwhile, a 45-year-old lady worker of Kohinoor Mills who injured in a road traffic accident has died of injuries. The deceased’s named was Saeeda Bibi. The funeral prayer of the deceased was held at Kohinoor Mills and she was laid to rest in the graveyard located inside the factory.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Potohar Division Muhammad Ateeque Tahir and Station House Officer (SHO) Police Station (PS) Naseerabad Ahsan Kiyani were not available for their official point of view over death and female workers fainting in the factory due to heat.
