Son, servants of influential politician shoot welder


RAWALPINDI - The son, driver and security guard of former Nazim Union Council Dhaman Syedan and PML-N leader Chaudhry Muhammad Ilyas mercilessly thrashed a poor welder and injured him critically on Thursday by firing bullet into his leg at Jarahi area on Adyala Road over welding the broken bumper of a car parked along with road leading towards the house of the influential N league stalwart.
The injured, identified as Muhammad Yasir Murtaza son of Ghulam Murtaza, aged 26, resident of Ali Town, was immediately shifted to nearby hospital for medical treatment, where his condition is stated to be out of danger.
An application has been filed with Police Station Saddar Berooni by the heirs of the victim, accusing police of not fling case owing to political pressure.
However, Station House Officer (SHO) Malik Suhail Zafar denied the allegation, saying the case would be registered if the victim party would approach police. The PML-N influential politician claimed of settling dispute with the victim party but the heirs of Yasir denied.
According to information gathered from different corners as well as from eyewitnesses, Yasir was welding a broken bumper of a car in his Yasir Janjua Steel Works located along with road leading towards the house of former Nazim, when Munna, the son of politician, his driver Sajid and a security guard arrived in their vehicle at 2:30pm.
They stopped their vehicle and came down and asked Yasir to remove the car from the road as it causing traffic block. On this an exchange of hot words occurred among them.
The troika grabbed Yasir and started beating him with kicks and punches. In the meanwhile, Sajid on order of Munna whipped out his pistol and fired a bullet into the leg of Yasir injuring him critically. After committing the crime, the three ran away while the injured was shifted to hospital. Police, getting information, rushed to the crime scene and collected evidence and probed the eyewitnesses.
Chaudhry Muhammad Ilyas, when contacted, said that it was not a big issue as the both parties settled the dispute. He said that he enjoyed good relations with the elders of Yasir that was why they forgave his son, driver and guard.
Muhammad Afsar and Raja Ishaq, the uncles of Yasir, told TheNation that Chaudhry was telling a lie and no settlement took place.  They said that Sajid injured Yasir on the directions of Munna. They said that a complaint has been lodged with Saddar Berooni police but no case has been registered so far owing to political pressure. SHO, when approached, said that the victim party has not yet approached police and case only would be registered after submission of application on the part of victim party.
SP Saddar Circle Waheed-ur-Rehman Khattak, during an interaction, said that police would not bow before any political pressure and would solve the case on merit. He said that case would be penned after issuance of medico-lego report (MLR) by the doctors.
Till the filing of this report police were investigating the incident.
Meanwhile, a mentally retorted young girl committed suicide by jumping from the rooftop of her house located at Jirahi Stop, near Faizan Madina Masjid on Adyala Road. According to Rescue 1122, a young girl Rabia Hassan daughter of Zafar, aged 19, died after jumping from the rooftop of her house.  “The girl was mentally upset,” informed Rescue 1122 spokesman. However, police was not aware about the incident. Five people, including two girls, injured severely in road accident at Tamiz-ud-Din Road, the area of PS Civil Line. As per information, three boys ridding on a motorcycle hit the two girls who were crossing the road. In result, all five maimed critically. Rescue 1122 shifted all the injured to nearby hospital for medical cure.
 The names of the victims could not be ascertained.
