ISLAMABAD - Taking a suo moto action in the separate human right cases, Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry on Friday sought reports from the Secretary Finance, Secretary Education Punjab and PPO Punjab. According to details, Mansoor Alam, resident of Karachi, in his application to the Chief Justice, stated that certain amount from the monthly salaries of government officials was deducted for the Benevolent Fund and Group Insurance Fund. The government employees believe that the deduction from their monthly deduction would be paid back at the time of their retirement from the service, but astonishingly, the benefits were not given to those who retired in a normal way. In his application, Mansoor requested that the same extension might also be allowed to other employees as well. Meanwhile, Justice Iftikhar has taken suo moto notice on an appeal of a person, Kala, resident of Multan. He has stated that someone had grabbed his money in the name of investment in the business of prize bonds. Later, that person had informed that he had won prize through a draw, therefore, he demanded more money, which was paid to him. He said that his son has been abducted and there was a threat that he might be killed. It has further been alleged that local police were reluctant to help him. Similarly, Majeeda Parveen, a resident of Faisalabad, has appealed to Justice Iftikhar through an application that she had been working as Trained Under Graduate Teacher under the Federal Government School, Islamabad. Due to family circumstances, she had managed to woo authorities to transfer her on deputation from Federal Government to Punjab Education Department. Therefore, she had appointed in Faisalabad for three years. The deputation period was extended for further two years, which expired on April 17, 2010. She further stated that her family is settled in Faisalabad hence her case may be considered under wedlock policy. She further that on humanitarian grounds Punjab Education Department may be directed to extend her period of deputation for further five years. Majeeda in another application requested for permanent induction/absorption of services from Federal Government Directorate of Education to Punjab Education Department, as the Federal Government Directorate of Education had already issued NOC as well as EDO Faisalabad had also issued NOC for absorption from Federal Govt to District Government Faisalabad but Punjab Education Department was not ready to absorb the services of her.
