CM's education policy wins laurels

SADIQABAD - The Punjab chief minister is utilising all the available resources to promote education across the province, said a PML-N parliamentarian, adding that PPP leaders in deprivation were criticising the provincial government's performance without any reason.
"Raja Riaz and his companions are on hell bent to flaying CM Shahbaz Sharif but the people are well aware of the fact that the CM was fighting Jehad against ignorance and has adopted the policy of merit," said MPA Muhammad Shafiq during a prize distribution ceremony held at the Government Girls' Degree College Sadiqabad.  The ceremony was presided over by Tehsil Council Coordinator Hafiz Abdul Razzaq and attended by District Education Officer (Colleges) Mirza Tanveerul Hassan, Govt Boys Degree College Principal Nasir Mehmood, Dr Abdul Saboor and Malik Sabir.
Because of the education-friendly policies of the Punjab government, also the poor students of the province were able to get quality education, the MPA said. He also advised the students to respect their parents and teachers, and asked the teachers to educate students along with their character building. Distribution of scholarships worth Rs10 billion to 40,000 intelligent students was evidence that the chief minister wanted to promote education, he elaborated.   Tanveerul Hassan said that the CM had encouraged the students on merit. He added that getting education for the poor was a dream but now the dream had come true. Nasir Mehmood said that under CM's scholarship programme, students across the country were being provided financial assistance.
Principal Dilshad Shameem praised the MPA for getting eleven seats approved by the Punjab government for the college. On the occasion, the participants were informed of the Punjab government's performance through a film. Later, the MPA distributed prizes to the exceptional students.
