PESHAWAR - Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Sardar Mahtab Ahmad Khan has said that around 36 thousands displaced families from North Waziristan Agency returned to Kurram Agency from Khost province of Afghanistan and were registered at the Ali Zai area.
He said that after the successful completion of targeted operation, the dignified repatriation of all IDPs is top priority of the government and this will mark a new beginning of progress in the tribal areas of Pakistan.
He expressed these views while talking to the representative delegation of prominent personalities of North Waziristan Agency here at the Governor House on Friday. The delegation led by ex-federal secretary Fareed Khan was consisted of senior former bureaucrats, technocrats, doctors and distinguished personalities from NWA. Besides, ACS FATA Azam Khan, Principal Secretary to Governor Dr Muhammad Fakhre Alam was also present on this occasion.
Talking to the delegation, the governor said the purpose of this targeted operation is to wipe out all terrorist sanctuaries and terrorist activities. He said that the stability and development of the country was not possible without restoration of peace and harmony in the tribal region. He said that particularly with the support of our tribal brethren, the whole nation is behind the armed forces for this targeted operation.
The governor said that the whole nation supports operation against terrorists and has shown solidarity with the armed forces of Pakistan taking part in the operation. “The government is taking care of the internally displaced persons and every possible facility would be provided to the IDPs,” he added.
He said that FATA Reforms Commission (FRC) has already been established and struggling for reforms and conducted meeting with all stockholders to push forward the FATA reforms process. He assured that the reforms process would be completed with the consent and wishes of tribal people soon. He said the tribal people of North Waziristan had left their homes and native places for the great national cause and their sacrifices would never go in vain. He further stated that the spirit of patriotism of the people of FATA is above board and un-challenging.
The governor further pointed out, as per the directive and keen interest of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and the federal government has already provided relief to IDPs of North Waziristan Agency. He appreciated the endeavours and efforts of Chief Minister Shahbaz Shareef and his government to facilitate them in minimising their difficulties.
Responding to a number of points raised by the delegation, the governor assured the delegation of taking necessary action to solve their grievances and said that every possible step would be taken to ensure all possible facilities, including food items to the IDPs. He directed the relevant authorities to take prompt steps to make sure the best education facilities to the IDPs.
He said the government was well aware about the problems of IDPs and would utilise all available resources for their assistance, rehabilitation and dignified resettlement. “The government would continue support till resettlement of the last IDP,” he added.
