The activists of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) staged a protest against Bangladeshi Government for sentencing to death JI Bangladesh Ameer Maulana Mutiur Rahman Nizami here on Friday.
The protesters were led by Jamaat Punjab Ameer Dr Syed Waseem Akhtar.
Speaking on the occasion, he demanded Pakistan Government to raise the issue of sentencing of JI leaders by Bangladesh government at International forum because the JI leadership rendered tremendous sacrifices to safeguard united Pakistan. He added that fraudulent cases were registered under a vicious conspiracy of the Bangladeshi government to make the country leaderless by killing the patriotic leadership of the nation. He said that as per the government’s instruction, an unprecedented verdict had been declared awarding all the detained accused with death penalty in connection with the so-called smuggling and arms haul cases.
ANTI-DRONES PROTEST: Dozens of citizens assembled here at Chowk Ghanta Ghar on Friday to condemn American drone attacks on North Waziristan and other Fata areas.
The protesters included activists of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and civil society who carried out non-stop sloganeering against USA. They burnt US flags to express their anger. The rally was led by PTI local leader Tariq Naeemullah Khan.
The speakers denounced the attacks as a violation of the country’s sovereignty. They urged upon the PML-N leadership to stand up to the United States and vowed to press Washington to change its policy. “We will put pressure on America, and our protest will continue if drone attacks are not stopped,” they warned.
