WAZIRISTAN: The Pakistan army said on Tuesday that a soldier was killed and several injured in a roadside blast in South Waziristan tribal region.

The security forces have cleared most of Waziristan region of armed groups. However, some are still hiding in rugged mountains and target forces.

"An officer, Maj Imran embraced shahadat (martyrdom) due to an IED blast during a cordon and search operation in Wana in South Wazirastan agency today while 6 soldiers were injured," an army statement said.

No group claimed responsibility as yet.
