MULTAN- The veteran politician Javed Hashmi has announced his resignation from the president-ship of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) as well as from the membership of the party.
“I cannot remain the part of the political party which supports undemocratic forces,” Hashmi says while addressing a press conference today.
He addressed chairman PTI Imran Khan saying bad days are nearing his party. Narrating a few people as hypocrites Hashmi said that they would put Imran Khan’s politics at stake. He said he has no intention to join any party and would rather contest the elections independently. In response to a question regarding Nawaz Sharif’s intention of coming to visit him, he said let Nawaz Sharif come first.
However, as per media reports, his announcement came following his meeting with Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz district president Bilal Butt, alias Billu Butt, who came to meet the disgruntled PTI leader at his residence.
Hashmi, who is popularly known as 'Baghi' for his hard political stance against undemocratic moves, had joined PTI in December 2011 while parting his ways with PML-N few months before general elections.
His differences with the PTI emerged as the party leader Imran Khan announced to march towards Prime Minister House in a bid to press the prime minister for his resignation.
The senior politician resigned as member of the National Assembly and he will now contest by-election for NA-149 scheduled to be held this month.
