ISLAMABAD - Amir of Qatar Shaikh Tamim bin Hamid al Sani has postponed his visit to Pakistan which was due to take place in the second week of October. The visit has been cancelled in the wake of security situation arising from the sit-ins staged by the PTI and PAT in the Red Zone of the capital.
Reliable sources told INP on Tuesday that agreements were to be signed during the visit of Qatari Amir for the import of LNG and investment from Qatar. However, the Qatari Foreign Ministry advised the Amir to postpone the visit in view of the security situation.
The sources said that Deputy Qatari Foreign Minister was due in Islamabad on Tuesday after attending the inauguration of Afghan President in Kabul and was to meet the Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources. However, as Shahid Khaqan Abbasi was not in the city, the meeting was scheduled with Minister of State for Petroleum Jam Kamal and senior officials.  The sources said he was told about the postponement of the visit of Qatari Amir and the Deputy Minister also cancelled his meeting with the Minister of State for Petroleum and left Islamabad after a short stay of a few hours.
