Islamabad- The Supreme Court has overruled an election tribunal decision today and restored KPK assembly membership of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s Ikram Ullah Gandapur.
Last week, an election tribunal in Peshawar disqualified KPK’s Minister for Agriculture, Ikram Ullah Gandapur, over his fake degree and ordered reelection in PK-67 Dera Ismail Khan constituency. Gandapur won the KPK assembly seat in by-elections held in December last year. His degree was challenged by an independent candidate Sardar Fatehullah Khan Miankhel in Dera Ismail Khan’s election tribunal.
Today, three-member bench led by Chief Justice Nasir-ul-Mulk heard a petition challenging the tribunal’s decision. The bench overruled the election panel’s verdict and issued notices to both the parties before adjourning the case till Oct 14. Ikram Ullah is brother of slain PTI MPA Israrullah Gandapur who was killed in a suicide attack.
